A guarranteed way to be permanently banned from Wikipedia

I just stumbled across Kathy Sierra's attack by a cyberstalker about a week ago. This is why making threats to sue or hurt other Wikipedians will get you drop-kicked from the project.

And besides, if you can't express yourself with words better than with violence, you're not going to enjoy participating in any Wikimedia project, let alone be a useful contributor.

Geoff

Update: I just found a useful running journal about events following Sierra's post, maintained over at the American Center for Surreal and Paranoid Life. (As pointed out below, they're not otherwise connected to Sierra's misadventure nor to Wikipedia, AFAIK.)

Thanks for the link, Geoff. At first we were shocked, we thought that we were somehow being explicitely connected to the title "A guarranteed way to be permanently banned from Wikipedia" and the accompanying technorati tag "criminal behavior" in some way. Then we thought that it couldn't be.

In light of the title and technorati tag, perhaps you could add the word "useful" or some other such word before mentioning the series of updates from American Center for Surreal and Paranoid Life, so as not to give the wrong impression? Thanks so much.

Peace, fellow blogger!

I didn't mean to make that implication: your post is a useful resource I wanted to share with other readers -- especially those like me who just learned about this awful incident.

I apologize for the mistake, & did not intend to cast doubt on the American Center for Surreal and Paranoid Life -- which is quite the memorable name. I hope that my revision makes things more clear.

Geoff

Thanks Geoff!
